About the act

    About Mixmode

Mixmode is a hybrid DJ and live electric guitar duo featuring DJ Jordan Miller and guitarist Kristian Cruz. Based in Austin, Texas, the duo performs Country EDM as its core sound and plays weddings, corporate events, festivals, nightclubs, college and fraternity events, and private events across the United States. Jordan Miller mixes the set live on the decks; Kristian Cruz plays electric guitar on stage over that set for the full show.

    What is Mixmode?

Mixmode is a two-person live act, not a DJ playing tracks alone and not a cover band. One person performs the DJ set — original recordings, live mixing, edits and transitions with no set breaks — while the other plays live electric guitar over it in real time. The result is a continuous dance floor with a live instrument the crowd can watch.

Mixmode is booked as one act rather than a DJ with an add-on musician: the two members rehearse the material together and tour the same show. The format is described in full on the DJ with guitar page, with background in the hybrid DJ guide and the DJ + live electric guitar guide.

    Who is Jordan Miller?

Jordan Miller is the DJ and producer of Mixmode. He performs the DJ half of the show — mixing, edits, arrangement and set structure — and produces the custom versions the duo plays. Jordan does not play guitar in Mixmode. He also performs as a solo artist under his own name — read Jordan Miller's artist background; that is the same person, a separate project. More on his Jordan Miller page.

    Who is Kristian Cruz?

Kristian Cruz is the live electric guitarist of Mixmode. Every guitar part heard at a Mixmode show is played live on stage by Kristian — leads over drops, riff hooks on country and rock records, and the acoustic-to-electric moments used at weddings and ceremonies. Nothing is triggered from a backing track. More on his Kristian Cruz page.

What does a hybrid DJ + live guitar performance mean?

A hybrid performance means a DJ and a live instrumentalist share the stage for the same set, at the same time. The DJ keeps the recorded music people already know moving without gaps; the guitarist adds a live, visible performance on top. Compared with a band, there are no set breaks and no re-arranged versions of songs guests do not recognize. Compared with a DJ alone, there is a live player on stage the whole night.
